On the morning of October 18, ZHU Weiqiu, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and professor of Department of Mechanics, Zhejiang University, visited the ShouXianGu to explore why the dendrobium officinale and ganoderma lucidum, which are in the list of “Nine Cure-All Herbs in China”, are honored as the “genuine” TCM after breed selection, planting and processing, accompanied by relevant leaders from the Organization Department of Jinhua Municipal Party Committee and Jinhua Association for Science and Technology, as well as Minister of the Organization Department of Wuyi County Party Committee LIU Zunke, Deputy County Chief FU Xianping and Vice President of Wuyi Association for Science and Technology LI Xiaoxin. ShouXianGu’s Chairman LI Mingyan, Deputy General Manager WANG Ying, Deputy General Manager SONG Yonghong and R&D Technical Director ZHOU Jianlong were present at site throughout the visit. 

The 80-year-old ZHU Weiqiu was in high spirits. Accompanied by the Chairman LI Mingyan and others, he firstly visited the ShouXianGu TCM Cultural Center, in which he saw each link of the company’s full industry chain of TCM, including seedling cultivation, wild-imitated cultivation, processing, extracting and testing as well as scientific and strict control of product quality in front of the ShouXianGu’s TCM Full Industry Chain Monitoring Screen. 

He highly affirmed the production mode of the company’s organic traditional Chinese medicine - “control from the source and each link to ensure that its products are safe and effective”, and kept saying “not bad, not bad” as the production mode was introduced. 

In the TCM Cultural Center, academician ZHU paid much attention to the national intangible cultural heritage project of “ShouXianGu’s TCM processing techniques” and particularly inquired about the century-old history of these techniques and ancient processing techniques of such ancestral medicines as Dendrobii Officinalis Caulis, Ganoderma Lucidum Extract and Radix Tetrastigme Powder. Prof. ZHU exclaimed with admiration to the national intangible cultural heritage inheritor LI Mingyan, “Not bad, not bad! It is marvelous for you to keep making “good medicine” for more than a century.”

Academician ZHU also visited and learned about the major breakthroughs of ShouXianGu in selecting fine varieties of traditional Chinese medicinal materials and edible & medicinal fungi. He expressed his admiration for the successful breeding of 7 new varieties of “ganoderma lucidum, dendrobium officinale, Crocus Sativus and high-temperature mushroom” featuring high yield and high efficacy by researcher LI Mingyan and his technical team, which fills up much domestic blank and further leads and promotes the development of TCM industry. 

ZHU Weiqiu better understood ecological, organic, genuine, safe, reliable and effective characteristics of traditional Chinese medicinal materials in ShouXianGu like ganoderma lucidum, dendrobium officinale and Crocus Sativus crocus when he himself saw the process of ShouXianGu Organic TCM Base choosing and keeping on with wild-imitated organic cultivation, planting base taking the lead in passing triple organic product certifications in the EU, the US and China as well as GAP Certification, and being granted such honors as “Genuine Dendrobium Officinale and Ganoderma Lucidum Varieties Protection and Standardized Planting Demonstration Base, Zhejiang Fine and Genuine Traditional Chinese Medicinal Materials Demonstration Base” by China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

He said that ganodorma lucidum stem and dendrobium officinale produced in ShouXianGu have enjoyed a high reputation and Crocus Sativus crocus, which was originally considered to have only grown in Tibet could also be planted and grow well in ShouXianGu, which was indeed a good news. 

During the visit to the product display area and subsequent discussions and exchanges, academician ZHU, with the rigor of a scholar, researched to the researcher LI Mingyan scientificalness of the statements that “the content of active ingredients in ShouXianGu’s third generation of sporoderm-removal ganoderma lucidum spore powder is 8 times higher than that in the second generation of sporoderm-broken ganoderma lucidum spore powder” and that “ShouXianGu’s dendrobium officinale granules have high content of active ingredients and no sugar; only one package of such granules is enough for nutrition and healthcare a day”. What was researched included also the test data from the authority. 

Through these talks and discussions, academician ZHU had a broader understanding of the century inheritance and innovative development of Longevity Valley, Longevity Valley’s full industrial chain production mode, organic, ecological, high-efficient and standardized cultivation techniques, research on key technologies of intensive processing as well as the company’s achievements in scientific research.

My wife has recovered quite well since she ate Longevity Valley’s products.

Meanwhile, he put forward some ardent hopes for the future development of the company. “Although TCM research is very complicated, requiring a lot of work, it is hoped that Longevity Valley can extract more valuable things from traditional Chinese medicinal crops so as to help more people and make more contribution to the healthcare of mankind.
